Dialing Codes in Brazil

One thing that can help you out in rounds in Brasil is using dialing codes. Each region in the country has a different 2-digit dialing code and it is very common to have these codes written in store banners or billboards.

The map below indicates the area code for each region.

As in many other countries, the area codes are first digits in the phone numbers.

Be careful! The area dialing codes are not always shown in these banners or billboards.

A number with area code will be displayed in the format (41) 1234-5678, or (41) 12345-6789. So, if you see a number like 9876-5432, this is not showing the area code. Keep looking you will find it somewhere else.
