Identifying Russia or Ukraine can be tricky. Both of them were part of the Soviet Union, which makes their architecture and infrastructure similar. To add up, Russia is so big that there are many kinds of landscapes in Russia that look similar to Ukraine's.
But even being very similar, there are some details that can help Identifying Russia and Ukraine:
Alphabet: Both of them use the Cyrillic alphabet, but some characters are different.
- Ukraine uses i, ï, є, and ґ
- Russia uses ë, ы, э, and ъ
Phone numbers: In Russia, it's common to see phone numbers in banners and billboards that start with +7 or 8.
Bollards: If you see a large number of bollards in road junctions, you are in Russia.
Coverage car: If you see that the coverage car is red, you are in Ukraine.
